Dedicated to service and protection of residents and their property for the Keswick Valley district and surrounding areas.
In 1965 the Keswick Valley Fire Department (KVFD) was established. The department was composed of one (1) Fire Chief, one (1) truck and whoever in the community was available. In 2015, a fire broke out at the Millville Fire Department, resulting in the complete loss of their fire station and most of their equipment and apparatus. From there the North York Fire Department was created, amalgamating the Keswick Valley Fire Department (Station #1) and the Millville Fire Department (Station #2).
The restructuring of local governments and local districts took place in 2022. Following the local governance reform, the Rural Community of Central York was born, returning the Keswick Valley Fire Department to independent operations on 1 January 2023.
The KVFD continues to serve the districts of Douglas, Keswick, Burtts Corner, Zealand, Dorn Ridge, Hamtown Corner, Birdton, Kingsley, and Royal Road.
The fire departments are filled with hard working individuals just like you, with busy lives, and plenty of responsibilities. These same individuals who answer the call come from all walks of life with different backgrounds, all with one main thing in common: a dedication to serve and protect the residents and property of their communities.
We are prepared to be there on your worst days.
