Our department engages in regular and rigorous training, including controlled burns and rescue scenarios to ensure we are as prepared as possible to assist in an emergency situation.
Training is conducted in-house, in conjunction with our mutual aid fire departments, and through other fire training organizations such as the New Brunswick Association of Fire Chiefs (NBAFC) workshops held annually in Miramichi, New Brunswick Community College (NBCC), Saint John Ambulance, etc.
We typically train Monday evenings at 7:00pm, in addition to some weekend training, September to June.
Firefighters are frequently called to various types of emergencies beyond fire suppression. Each fire department holds different service agreements. Often firefighters are dispatched to medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, technical rescue operations, flooding and inclement weather response and wildland fires, just to name a few. If you want to know more about the fire services in your community, reach out to your municipality or fire department for more details.
When accidents happen, we're there to help. The Keswick Valley Fire Department responds to motor vehicle accidents and incidents, ensuring to safely provide support for those in need. We are automatically dispatched to collision and airbag(s) deployed vehicle detections. Our trained members are at the ready to provide patient care, medical assistance, rescues and extrications, fire suppression, and manage hazards. Your safety is our priority!
Apr. 16, 2025: Keswick Valley Fire Department is dispatched by 911 to respond to a wide range of medical emergencies providing vital support to the residents of the Central York Rural Community. In collaboration with Ambulance New Brunswick, we assist in several key roles including lift assists, vehicle and home extrications, and delivering pre-hospital care until paramedics arrive.
Recently, firefighters from Keswick Valley and the Keswick Ridge Fire Department completed training and recertification in Medical First Responder. This training equips us to handle respiratory and cardiovascular emergencies, trauma care, oxygen and ventilation administration, and a variety of medical conditions and injuries. Our commitment to responding to medical emergencies is to ensure that timely and effective assistance is available when it's needed most.
